RYLA touches (and changes) young
lives
"Touch a Life" was the theme at
RYLA this year and boy! did this
camp touch my life. There are
not many chances to walk into a
roomful of people that do not
judge you, who can come right up
to you and hug you. RYLA taught
me more about myself and about
others, and how to get along
with people that are different
from me. At RYLA all of us
learned the Four Way Test, and I
am trying to apply it to every
day life.
We
had an activity everyday and one
of them was Eggspress, where you
launched an egg into the air and
hoped that it would not break.
We had to protect it with the
items that we were given. The
one that was the most fun was
the RYLA Olympics where teams
competed against each other.
(By the way, team 20 won, which
was my team.) We went on hikes
and bonded with everyone around
us, and we got to see the
beautiful scenery. My class was
the first class to go to Junior
RYLA and then Senior RYLA. This
camp was truly amazing and I am
glad I got the chance to
experience it. I am considering
being a junior counselor. Thank
you, Englewood Rotary, for
sponsoring me.
